1.
Monday, September 30, students are
encouraged to wear orange for Orange Shirt Day to promote
awareness about the residential school system and the impact this has had on
the Indigenous communities around Canada. Also,
please have your child bring a Toonie for Terry.
2. Social
Justice School Community Projects:
As part of our Religion
program, students are asked to take on Social Justice projects to demonstrate
how we can be more like Christ in helping the less fortunate. This coming
month, we will be organizing 2 drives:
1. A food drive for St
Luke's Feed the Hungry. This will run from now until October 9th when they pick
up the food in the morning. Each grade has their own list of Food items.
Grade 2: Canned chili,
Pancake Syrup, Peanut Butter, Soup Crackers
Grade 3: Cookies, School Snacks, Fruit juices (1liter), Shampoo,
Toothbrushes, Toothpaste
2. Pass
it along clothing. Mme Wozny has been asking for donations of clothing for a
while now. Look in your closets for any clothes that are no longer needed. Send
in clean clothes that are still in good condition to the school. Grade sixers
will sort them on October 16th.
Thank you for your generosity in both of these worthwhile
leadership activities
3. Reading Program at home:
Your child is
encouraged to read in French at home daily. To facilitate and
encourage them to read, your child will receive $1 of school money for each
minute read in French at home. Please have your child write as
follow in their agenda: J’ai lu ___ minutes en français. Sign
and initial please. Merci.
5. Fall Leaves
Have
your child pick up fall leaves and put them in a Ziploc bag with their name on
it. $10 of school money will be given to
your child for his bag.
